【My first Ironman race】2023 Ironman Copenhagen !

2023年もアッという間にもう3ヶ月経ちました。

We are already three months into the year 2023.

今年はとてもとても楽しみしてきたイベントがあります。

IRONMAN に出場します！！！！！

会場はデンマークのコペンハーゲン。

I got an event that I have been looking forward to very, very much this year.

I will be competing in IRONMAN ！！！！！

The venue is Copenhagen, Denmark.

そう！古巣で！4年ぶりにコペンハーゲンを訪れ、懐かしい街でレースします！！！

Yes, In my old home! I will be back in Copenhagen for the first time in 4 years and racing in the city !

アイアンマンはトライアスロンを始めてからずっと憧れだったものの、

日本でIronmanは今現在、半分の距離、70.3のミドルディスタンスまでしか開催されておらず、当時のレベルや時間とお金を考えて、日本で大学生をやっていた頃は目指すことができませんでした。

Although Ironman has been my dream since I started triathlon,
"Ironman" is currently held in Japan only up to the middle distance, and I could not make it when I was a university student in Japan, considering my level, time and money at the time.(yes, it is really expensive from Japan to fly to some other country to join an Ironman race).

ドイツ国内にもIronman のフルディスタンスはハンブルグとフランクフルトで開催されますが、時期が合わなくて、車で行ける次に近いところとなり、デンマークになりました。

（ヨーロッパは陸路で行こうと思えばいけるので、自転車の飛行機輪行の心配が減ります。結構心的ストレスが軽減されます...助かる...!!!）

Full distance Ironman races are actually held in Hamburg and Frankfurt in Germany , but due to scheduling conflicts, the next closest place we could drive to was Denmark.

(I can get pretty much around in Europe by car, so I don't have to worry about our bikes during the flight. It's quite a bit less stressful...! )

ちなみに我々の住んでいるアーヘンからコペンハーゲンまでは車で8時間かかります。なんだかんだ飛行機輪行の方が早いと思いがちですが、空港の待ち時間やストレスを天秤にかけると、マイペースに車で行った方が楽しいです。交互に運転できますし。

It takes 8 hours by car from Aachen (where we live) to Copenhagen. You might think that it is faster by flight, but if you consider the waiting time at the airport and the stress(!!!), it is more enjoyable to drive at your own pace. And we can take turns driving.

途中、船で国境をまたぐので、それも楽しみです。

On the way, we will cross the border by ferry, so that will be fun too.
